Outdoor fitness equipment designed for disabled veterans

Our manufacturing parnter, Triactive America, is behind our military forces 100%. Triactive America is an industry leader in outdoor fitness equipment. They are now the leading design and manufacturing company for special needs, or wheelchair accessible, fitness equipment. This newest line of special-needs accessible outdoor fitness equipment was designed thanks in part to critical input from disabled Irag and Afghanistan war veterans.

Marine Sergent JR Pierce was wounded by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan which left him in a wheelchair. During his rehabilitation in Palo Alto, CA, he found a way to get back to his exercise routine thanks to Triactive America's commitment of providing readily accessible equipment to wheelchair bound individuals.

Triactive's design engineer, Adrian Hongo said the daunting challenge came from young veterans like Sgt. Phillip Malasig and Sgt Pierce, who missed certain types of exercises more than others. Before his accident, Sgt. Malasig was a big runner and had not been able to get a good cardio workout. Hongo and his team at Triactive America came up with a wheelchair accessible treadmill. His team also designed weight machines with high-speed motions to produce aerobic workouts. Researchers also believe the outdoor location is providing psychological benefits as well.

The Palo Alto VA Hospital received a $10,000 federal grant to pay for the equipment, while a local construction firm donated time and materials to build the outdoor gym terrace. The VA is hoping to refine the prototypes, and would like to see the concept take hold in VA facilities across America.
